Bowling

We where invited to our friend Kelton's birthday party today. The boys had a fun time and they loved learning how to bowl. We have never been bowling as a family before. It took Jacob about 15 minutes to warm up to the ideal, but as soon as he was warmed there was no stopping him. It made me wish we had an inexpensive bowling ally to take the kids more often. We are glad that Kelton invited us to his party. --emily

Watershed

Our play group activity for the day was an adventure out to the local watershed. They have fun experiments for the kids to visualise the flow of water. They have tubes pressured by air and little yellow balls that represent water. The kids had a great time! Jacob enjoyed watching the balls "stream" overhead in the clear plastic tubes then watching them drop out the other side of the room. It was a great visual for kids. Andrew enjoyed opening all the flaps and searching for balls in the drop-off containers. All the kids got along well. It was a fun outing. --emily

Brotherly Love

Andrew is constantly tackling and hugging Gordon as Jacob does to him. This was cute because Gordon was enduring all the mauling today without growling at him. --emily

Mr. Potato Head

Here is Jacob's masterpiece for the day! He loves to create new and funny faces with Mr. Potato Head. He has enjoyed this pastime since he was about one year old. It is cute because Mr. P's hands are always above his ears. I think Jacob just sees it as he is raising his hands. That is my guess anyway. --emily

Raining Cheerios

What do my kids do when it is raining outside and they are bored?
Here is an inside look at how naughty they can be. . .
Anyone need a snack?
It looks like Jacob, Andrew & Gordon do!
Still hungry?
Andrew is!
Clean up time.
Oh no, still hungry.
Jacob runs upstairs to get Byron to help clean up,
he is a bulldoser and a great helper.
After all the fun the boys had making a mess, they where great helpers cleaning up as well. I am sure that it can't be healthy for a dog to eat that many Cheerios in one sitting. --emily

Dog Washing

Today was dog washing day!
Here are a couple of pictures of my little boy being a big helper.
Andrew checking out the new dog brush.
Andrew drying off his wet dog with mommy's hairdryer.
Gordon was a good sport as long as he had his chew stick.
That was fun! Are we done now? --emily

The Lion King

Yesterday Kelly Surprised me with 2 tickets to see the Lion King. He had a babysitter (my parents) and dinner all set up and planned. Along time ago I had mentioned to Kelly that I would love to go and see The Lion King. He did a great job remembering that and planned the whole thing for the day of our anniversary. It was an amazing show! As everyone says, the costumes are amazing. The costume designers are brilliant. If you are ever given the opportunity to go and see it I would say SEE IT! You won't be disappointed. --emily

Toothpaste stealer

This morning as Jacob came out of his bathroom he stated: "Mom I just brushed my teeth but I didn't use water because it always steals the toothpaste". Good problem solving Jacob! --emily

Part of the Family

Andrew was down for a nap and the house was all too quiet. As I was looking to see where Jacob and Gordon were, this is what I found: Jacob snuggling with his dog. --emily

More Snow!

Today is March 9th, 2009 and we have had amazing snow fall the past couple of days. I grew up in this area and have never seen so much snow in one season before. It just continues snowing and snowing, and then we have a sunny day in the middle that teases us into thinking we have turned the corner to spring. Then we have more snow! The kids and dog are loving it. I am ready for my tulips and other bulbs to stop being teased. Today Jacob and I went to the sledding hill behind our house and took a couple of runs. It was a fun time. Kelly took the bus home from work today. The kids, dog and I walked to met him at the bus stop in town so we could eat out together. We ate, then Jacob wanted to go sledding. Kelly was still dressed for work and Andrew had gotten wet from dinner. So Kelly took one for the team and took Andrew and Gordon home, and Jacob and I went for a couple of runs on the slopes. Jacob loves to go fast down the hill. I think we have a future snowboarder on our hands. ***Jacob and I have had many talks about eating snow and he will always say, "I made sure it wasn't yellow." He just Loves to eat snow! --emily

Note to Self:

When you get old don't be this crabby!
My mom called yesterday to let me know about a local store that was going out of business. The whole store was going to be on sale. So among our list of things to do we added stopping in and checking out what is on sale. As Jacob, Andrew and I walked into the store, I saw an old woman with a shopping cart with maybe three cards in her huge cart. Yes, greeting cards, or birthday cards,  flat simple not heavy cards. So I kindly asked the woman if I could trade her my basket for her shopping cart so I could contain my kids--Andrew in the front and Jacob in the big basket part. The woman said,
"NO! I WAS HERE FIST SO I GET THE SHOPPING CART." She was a crazy old lady. So my kids began to entertain the store with the funny things that kids do--all in the name of buying stickers on sale. I think we might have saved $0.99 Was it worth it?  --emily

Boys Being Boys

Here are my boys being boys. Jacob and Gordon were boxing today. It was quite funny to watch them. Gordon would steal a glove from Jacob and run around with it in his mouth. The glove says thing like "Hulk mad" and it makes boy smashing sounds. They played very well together. Jacob laughs so hard at Gordon when he dose silly things like that. I love his real laugh.
Andrew learned how to climb up on the couch all by himself today. He sat up on the couch for a good ten minutes and was reading his favorite fuzzy dog book to himself. What a daring little boy. --emily

Grandpa in town

This weekend Kelly's Dad came into town to meet our new addition, Gordon! Jacob was talking about Grandpa coming for days. It was so cute to see how excited he was. Jacob was constantly asking Grandpa to play trains and build tracks. We are so lucky to have a Grandpa who visits so often and enjoys playing with his grandkids.  --emily
