Bike basket

My bike basket came in the mail this week. Here it is!
I was wanting to put a liner in it so that I don't lose my stuff out the basket weave. Looking on line, this sort of thing exists for $50. I knew that my mom could figure out the pattern. She did figure it out and it is amazing. With my mom's mad sewing skills and her fabric, look how darling this is. She just happened to have the perfect fabric in the dryer for another project that she only needed a yard of fabric for. She had bought 4 yards with no purpose. So she had plenty for this project also. I am glad because it matches my bike perfectly. Thanks mom you are the best! --emily

Camping

There are no pictures because upon my request and pulling the camera out and placing it with the gear, the camera was left at home. --emily
Last night Jacob and I went to our stake the father and son camp out at the Ensign ranch. It was Jacob's first experience camping and he seams to have had a great time. We car pooled with our friends the Gibsons. Once we where at the ranch we met up with more of our friends and we all set up camp together. We set up our tent in a clearing and got attacked by mosquitoes. Luckily our friends had bug spray. At night we went to a bonfire. Later we enjoyed roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. I made smores for the boys, but as I gave Jacob his smore he threw away the graham cracker and just ate the marshmallow and chocolate. We slept pretty well in our tent. We slept so well, we were the last ones to wake up. Jacob's only complaint about this experience was that the porta-potties smelled horrible. We're looking forward to camping again soon. --Kelly

Lunch Date

Kelly had to work today on this sunny Memorial Day, so the kids and I joined him for lunch. It was so much fun. There were hardly any people in Kelly's office. The kids had a blast exploring. I am sure Kelly's office was a disaster after we left.
The boys enjoyed answering dad's phone.
Andrew is multi-tasking as dad often does,
eating lunch and catching up on calls.

Cruisin'

This weekend began with a daddy lunch date at Costco. We love their food. Kelly and I had pizza and the boys shared a hot dog and soda. Kelly helped us do our weekly shopping then he went back to work. Saturday morning Kelly decided that mom needed a bike. Everyone else in the family has bikes and when we go on rides I end up on the scooter. So it was time to get mom a bike. I found one on line at a local store. So we went to check it out. It was exactly what I was looking for. Yeah! So now I am the owner of a baby blue beach cruiser. I plan to buy a basket online and can't wait to attach it. That way I can stop at the store and pick up a bag or two of groceries at our local market. --emily

Facial anyone?

Today Andrew was giving out free yogurt facials!
I have been working with Andrew on using his spoon and not his hands, but as you can see he likes to use his hands.  --emily

Mothers Day

Today was the best Mother's day yet!

Yesterday Kelly sent me out to have my toes painted and to an hour of quiet time.

The boys let me sleep in this morning. I love to sleep in. It is one of my favorite things in the world.

Today at church we had a great lesson on " being there." It was about the importance of listening to the promptings of the spirit and living your life to its full potential. It was a feel good-lesson! Also the men served cheese cake during the lesson.

Later this afternoon we had my parents, Joshua and Adrianne over for dinner. Kelly cooked a great meal of chicken, mashed potatoes, broccoli and cheese, asparagus (thanks Josh), roles, and ice cream (thanks Marks). It was a great meal and good company.

But, the best part of Mother's day is the hand made kid cards. It melts my heart. Thanks Jake and Drew. --emily

Fear of Snakes

Today we met a friend at a local park to enjoy the sunshine. We where playing and having a great time. When all of the sudden a kid began to scream for their dad. I could see Drew and it didn't sound like Jake. But I couldn't find Jacob so I ran to the screeching that was unfamiliar. It was Jacob freaking out, yelling in panic, and frozen in place. He had a very large snake at his feet. It was a large gardner snake Kelly said it was about a foot and a half long and about three inches wide. I have never seen Jacob so freaked out. Jacob had big crocodile tears and he wouldn't let Kelly put him down for almost 15 minutes. Kelly's conclusion was the Jacob went to pick up a "stick" and the snake moved and caught Jake off guard. --emily

Dog Park

(Gordon is on Kelly's lap and the dog with the pink collar is a random park dog)
A new dog park just opened in our community.  Today was the grand opening of the off-leash fully-fenced dog park. We went to check it out and show our support. We had a great time. The boys loved watching all the dogs run around and play with each other. Gordon had a great time playing with all the other dogs and being off his leash. I love this picture because the boys where all sitting and observing when this little dog jumped up and Andrew gave him big hugs. Andrew loves to hug dogs! --emily
