Baseball 2012

Stepping up to the plate,
here comes the pitch. . . and it's a hit. Great swing, Jacob.
Jacob is in his second year of little league. This year his team is the White Sox. It's fun to see how he has improved over last year. He's gotten much better and he really enjoys the game. He has fun playing with his friends and I love that he has an outlet for getting some of that extra energy out. He has a great swing and throw this season.

Last Official day of Pre-School

Andrew has been attending the Snoqualmie Ridge Preschool since January. This week was his last week of school before the summer break. The kids' parents were invited to a recognition ceremony the last hour of class. Andrew was wearing a visor that he had decorated in class. Andrew is posing with his teachers Miss Amy, & Terri.
Each kid was given a medal that hung around their neck and a certificate of completion. They also gave the parents a bag full of art projects our kids had done in class.
After class, Andrew played with some of his friends. We're proud of our cute Andrew. He's a good student and a sweet boy. --Kelly

Piano Recital

Jacob has been taking piano lessons since January. This week he had his first recital. His teacher hosted a recital and invited about a dozen of her students to play a couple of songs each. Jacob played, "London Symphony" and "Happy Birthday".
Jacob is not normally the type of kid to get up in front of a group and perform, but when it was his turn he went right up to the piano and played his two songs. I've never been more proud of Jacob. He did a great job.
All the kids who performed got a rose and a completion certificate from their teacher. It was a great experience for Jacob. --Kelly

Memorial Weekend Camping Extravaganza

We went with a group of friends from our neighborhood on a camping adventure. This weekend took much planning but was so worth every moment of food gathering, list writing and bag packing.
We camped on the cliffs,
 saw "sleeping lady",
rode on horses for the first time as a family, and with friends,
We dipped our feet in the cool river,
and played in amazing glittery sand,
 Miss A had glittery hands,
 Kelly and Andrew explored,
 Jake ran from falling rocks,
 the kids found lizards,
Andrew wore his silly face almost all weekend,

 we ate fantastic camping food,
rented kid powered go-carts,
played in dirt and with dogs all weekend.
This was our first time ever camping at a KOA, and let me say the amenities were fantastic. We were still in the dirt and making our own food. There was a fun modern community park the boys enjoyed played at. There was even a heated swimming pool. Firewood with delivery! A dish washing station, very clean bathroom individual showering rooms in case you do that while camping. Saturday was family tie-dyeing night. It was a great Weekend! --emily

Cat Love

This week while Jacob was in his piano lessons, Andrew and I played in the sunshine enjoying some much needed Vitamin D. Andrew made friends with this amazingly patient black cat. Andrew sat with her and pet her. He checked under her tail and told me all about it. He ran after her and she kept coming back. I think she enjoyed the attention even if it was a little much. --emily

Split Lip

This week Jacob split his lip on the playground at school. I received a phone call from the school nurse   informing me not to worry--it will heal no problem. But it was a nasty little cut. I am sure it will leave a little scar. Tough little dude! --emily

Science Fair

Today Jacob participated in his first science fair.
Jacob is showing his friend Will all about his science project, he was so proud of it it.
This is the picture collage Jacob and I put together.
This is Jacob's write up. I asked him leading questions, but he typed it with spelling help:

Home Made Lava Lamp
My mom and I looked on the computer to find a fun science experiment. We found this lava lamp. I thought it looked fun. So my mom and I went to Target to get what we needed. After we got home. I first washed out a pickle jar and filled it one third full of water. Then I added a few drops of blue food coloring.  I stirred it to make sure it was blue enough. Then I filled the rest of the jar with oil. A few minutes later after letting it separate and settle, I added an Alka-Seltzer this made it bubble like a lava lamp. I had a fun time learning something new.

Voodoo Doughnuts

Spring break weekend we took a little adventure to Portland. We checked into our hotel right in the heart of it all. We walked to dinner at this great Thai restaurant. And for desert we walked to the famous Voodoo Doughnuts.
The boys are picking the perfect doughnut from the automated lazy susan. It would stop so the employees could take out a doughnut or wipe up some crumbs and both boys were so worried the machine was broken. The expression on their face was priceless.
Kelly picked and enjoyed a "Portland cream" doughnut.
Jacob chose the doughnut that was covered, I mean covered in an assortment of sprinkles. It is exactly how he would have sprinkled it himself!
Andrew decided on the doughnut covered in Minni M&Ms. He picked at it, ate lots of the M&Ms off but thankfully didn't finish the whole thing.
I picked the "Voodoo" doughnut. Its belly was raspberry filled and it was so yummy. . .  I did finish all of my doughnut even thought I shouldn't have!
Thanks Debbie for this recommendation. We are so glad you suggested it. --emily

Skate King

During spring break we went rollerskating with our friends.
We went to our local roller rink "Skate King." This is the same skating rink that I used to go to as a young person. It still looks exactly the same. It also smells exactly same, like "Aussie" hair spray. If you are a child of the eighties, you know what I am talking about. Purple bottle pink kangaroos!
The boys spent lots of time like this. . .
and this!
The skates are even the same. I think I might have been wearing the same size sevens I put on years ago.
The boys had a fantastic time. They cant wait to go again. --emily
