Cat Love

This week while Jacob was in his piano lessons, Andrew and I played in the sunshine enjoying some much needed Vitamin D. Andrew made friends with this amazingly patient black cat. Andrew sat with her and pet her. He checked under her tail and told me all about it. He ran after her and she kept coming back. I think she enjoyed the attention even if it was a little much. --emily

Split Lip

This week Jacob split his lip on the playground at school. I received a phone call from the school nurse   informing me not to worry--it will heal no problem. But it was a nasty little cut. I am sure it will leave a little scar. Tough little dude! --emily

Science Fair

Today Jacob participated in his first science fair.

Home Made Lava Lamp

My mom and I looked on the computer to find a fun science experiment. We found this lava lamp. I thought it looked fun. So my mom and I went to Target to get what we needed. After we got home. I first washed out a pickle jar and filled it one third full of water. Then I added a few drops of blue food coloring.  I stirred it to make sure it was blue enough. Then I filled the rest of the jar with oil. A few minutes later after letting it separate and settle, I added an Alka-Seltzer this made it bubble like a lava lamp. I had a fun time learning something new.

Three Piggy Oprah

Jacob's kindergarten class performed the 3 Little Pig Opera.  We all went to the performance.  It was a lot of fun. --emily

Voodoo Doughnuts

Spring break weekend we took a little adventure to Portland. We checked into our hotel right in the heart of it all. We walked to dinner at this great Thai restaurant. And for desert we walked to the famous Voodoo Doughnuts. 

The boys are picking the perfect doughnut from the automated lazy susan. It would stop so the employees could take out a doughnut or wipe up some crumbs and both boys were so worried the machine was broken. The expression on their face was priceless.

 Kelly picked and enjoyed a "Portland cream" doughnut.

 Jacob chose the doughnut that was covered, I mean covered in an assortment of sprinkles. It is exactly how he would have sprinkled it himself!

 Andrew decided on the doughnut covered in Minni M&Ms. He picked at it, ate lots of the M&Ms off but thankfully didn't finish the whole thing. 

I picked the "Voodoo" doughnut. Its belly was raspberry filled and it was so yummy. . .  I did finish all of my doughnut even thought I shouldn't have!

Skate King

During spring break we went rollerskating with our friends.

We went to our local roller rink "Skate King." This is the same skating rink that I used to go to as a young person. It still looks exactly the same. It also smells exactly same, like "Aussie" hair spray. If you are a child of the eighties, you know what I am talking about. Purple bottle pink kangaroos!

The skates are even the same. I think I might have been wearing the same size sevens I put on years ago.

Leprechaun Catcher

Today the boys crafted with Grandma! They made darling leprechaun catchers. They crafted everything from scratch. First they painted the cardboard green. Then they added sparkle paint and shamrocks. The cardboard was fashioned to look like a leprechaun hat. They made little leprechaun ladders from pipe cleaners, added plastic gold on top to lure them in. There is a trap door on the very top all in hopes to catch a leprechaun or two. Thanks mom! --kelly & emily

Wallaby Farm

Today we went to our local wallaby farm with Andrew's pre-school. We had an awesome time! I learned so many things I never knew about wallabies.

Jacob has school every other Friday so luckily today was his day with no school. Jacob was so darling the whole trip. He brought his camera (my old one) and took some darling pictures. He had a great time. The ranch is set up in such a way that the kids can wander and not get lost or go too far. Jacob just wandered and took pictures and loved the independence.

This in one of Andrew's teachers, Miss Terry. She was lucky enough to get to carry a baby joey the whole tour. The baby's name was Leonard--such a big name for the little dude.

The wallabies have lots of free space to run and play in the fresh open sky, with access to the barn that is open 24/7. It has heat lamps that can be turned on if necessary, and everything a little wallaby could need.

This Blue wallaby let the kids gather around her and pet her. She was so patient. She is the female to the red wallaby. The first picture on this post is the red one.

As we were leaving the farm, the owner handed out a little picture of the baby Joey Leonard to all the kids. It might as well have been 20 bucks! My kids thought it was the best gift ever. As soon as we got home, Andrew went straight to his room and hung it on his wall. The boys have all of there special things on a string line with clips at their level so they can display and take down the things that are special and important to them. I Love that this made it to the wall. It is fun to watch what they find to be important.

Valentines Fun

This year we made our valentines ourselves. I think they turned out cute. The boys had a great time making them too. They picked out the color glitter-paper and glued it all together. They chose a plastic animal for each person specifically. My favorite part was their cute little finger holding the string knot on the back so I could tie it tight.

Andrew thoroughly enjoyed handing out his valentines to his class mates. This was his first year to have a real class Valentines party. He thought it was awesome!

Andrew came with me to help volunteer at Jacob's class for his party, Andrew was so helpful. Here he is holding Jacob's Valentine bag. He helped a bunch of other kids hold their bags too. Jacob's class played a cute game and made a fun snack. It was a fun day for a party. --emily

Birthday cake
