These buttons are my Grandma's. I wanted to preserve them in the best way I could think of--something modern yet still classic. So my quiet Sunday activity was making this! We all sat together in my big bed while Jacob and Andrew watched a movie and Kelly took a nap. It was the perfect quiet afternoon. I stitched stems and leaves then added heirloom buttons. This picture does not do them justice. They are beautiful pearl buttons that belonged to my grandma who is no longer with us. Maybe my mom will comment and add a story or a memory of her mother and her button collection! --emily

What a neat and special way to keep memories of your grandma. Love the picture
Simply lovely!
love the idea. beautiful!
Oh Emily! That turned out so darling! You would make my mom proud, turning something simple into something so cute. The buttons appear to be regular size shirt buttons but they are tiny little baby clothes buttons. My mom who grew up in the Depression years let nothing go to waste and would remove the buttons, zippers and anything with life left in it to be used and recycled again. Some of the buttons you took were on a thin wire that my mom used to keep "like" buttons together. I have many bundles of buttons my mom strung over the many years of her collecting. Nice job!
Love, Mom
Awesome job, Emily! What a darling thing to do with the buttons. They aren't just reused on a piece of clothing, but they are really on display in a work of art.
I am so not surprised that you created something so perfectly beautiful from those sweet buttons. What a wonderful memory!
